Beastie Boys/Run DMC Live @ The Palladium 1987

Some things go together oh-so-beautifully like peanut butter & jelly, macaroni & cheese, and of course; Run DMC & The Beastie Boys. Granted the quality of this recording isn't the best (more than likely from a handheld cassette recorder), but fans and collectors will agree that it's a fine performance nonetheless. This was made at the height of the Licensed To Ill era when the Beasties were packing houses, clubs, and gigs all over the world with their stereotypical frat-boy stylings, girls in cages, and giant inflatable penises. As a treat to the fans, after No Sleep Til Brooklyn, Run DMC took the stage with a quick four song set and afterwards, turned the mics back over to the Beasties for a classic encore performance of Fight For Your Right. One of the funniest bits has got to be when MCA gets the crowd to sing happy birthday to Ad-Rock (even though it wasn't really his birthday) and presents him with a Yankees hat. Another comical gem takes place at the very end of the show when apparently Jam Master Jay (RIP) had lost his Adidas in the crowd and Run was asking the audience to throw them back on stage. At that point, the tape ran out so who knows if he ever got them back. Sobriety was clearly not on the agenda for this performance and it really shows, but alas this is one of the many things that make this performance such a damn classic. I did what I could to clean up the sound, but like I said, it's still a bit rough but still enjoyable. All tracks tagged & encoded within iTunes @ 128kbps with cover art.
