Emulating The Trigger Sound On The TR-8

If you read my last post, you'd recall that my only beef (if you will) with the Roland TR-8 was the fact that you couldn't emulate the trigger sound, but like I said, it wasn't really a big deal since I could simply load and sync a sample via Ableton Live. Anyways, I was messing about with the 808 rim shot and found that if you tune it to it's lowest setting and turn the decay knob all the way down, you can pull off a moderately passable trigger click. Although I haven't done it yet, I'd imagine that if you routed the rimshot to it's own mixer channel, you could EQ the sound and give it a bit of additional warmth, and whereas it won't be completely authentic, it will certainly spice up any electro track.
